Symmetrical Group works in busy and demanding industries. And as such, our people are required to work in some challenging environments.

The safety and wellbeing of our people and clients is paramount in everything we do. To support this, we have designed our key performance indicators with a target of zero harm, which are driven by policies that guide our actions on all matters relating to health, safety, and the environment. We regularly review these policies in accordance with our continuous improvement policy.

Symmetrical Group will continue to strive to protect its people, clients, business, and the environment from any hazards, harm, or unsafe practices.

Occupational Health and Safety

Symmetrical Group is committed to conducting business activities in a manner that will safeguard the health and safety of its employees and of all persons affected by its activities, and that effectively protects the environment.

Our goal is to achieve and maintain Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) performance excellence, as measured by our customers, industry peers, government regulators and our own internal targets. We are committed to providing the resources required to achieve this result.

All levels of staff and management are responsible and will be held accountable for providing leadership, visible commitment, direction, resources and to minimize risk to people, plant equipment, property and to avoid process loss to meet our identified OHS performance target.

Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that a safe work environment are provided and risks are managed effectively, that employees have been security cleared and are adequately trained so that our OHS policy and procedures are fairly and consistently enforced.

All employees, contractors and others engaged by Symmetrical Group share the responsibility to work in a manner that will protect themselves, fellow employees and the public from harm. Employees are encouraged to consult with supervisors and participate in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) matters.

Compliance with all applicable clients and/or governmental OHS regulations is considered the minimum acceptable standard of OHS performance. We will seek to continuously improve OHS performance and meet or exceed industry best practices.

Active support of this policy is a condition of employment and an expectation of everyone we do business with.

Occupational Health & Safety

Environmental

Symmetrical Group is committed to providing excellent services to its customers, in an efficient responsible manner.

Our goal is to understand and meet our environmental obligations to our employees, our customers and the community, in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act and the Environmental Standards, AS/NZS ISO 14000

The environmental management system may include but is not limited to:

  • Planning work activities, to meet environmental and cultural heritage legislation and guidelines
  • Operating an environmentally sound and culturally aware business
  • Training all staff in environmental issue awareness and work procedures
  • Reporting and recording environmental practices as part of our management system
  • Reviewing and auditing other environmental procedures, to enable continual improvement

Our Commitment is to:

  • Comply with legislation concerned with the production, minimisation and disposal of waste, control of hazardous substances, and industrial noise
  • Comply with Government Acts and requirements for the protection of our cultural heritage

At Symmetrical Group Pty Ltd it is our mission to provide our customers a Safe, Efficient, Quality Electrical and Mechanical Contracting service that exceed the expectations applied to us. By doing so we aim to become the preferred supplier of major asset owners in Western Australia.

We believe our emphasis on quality will help us achieve our stated goal and are continuously improving our quality control procedures and methods. Our improved reliance on improved recruiting and training methods, technology, machinery, tooling and devices is the key to retaining existing customers and growing our business.

We will be guided in our endeavour towards total quality management by the system specified by the ISO:9001:2000 standard and will use it as a guideline to implement an operational system that will always ensure traceability of our activities and ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Quality Control

Indigenous Affairs Policy

Symmetrical Group Pty Ltd is committed to working with Indigenous people from those regions in which we undertake projects, in order to provide opportunities for Indigenous people to develop skills through employment and to develop commercial business opportunities. Symmetrical Group will:

  • Consult with Aboriginal communities where we work and promote an understanding of both parties’ interests and aspirations
  • Provide Aboriginal cultural awareness to Remote Water Services employees
  • Establish the basis for the training and sustained employment of Indigenous people within our business

Indigenous Affairs

Training and Development

On-the-job training commences with induction, and continues until new staff are deemed competent by their Supervisor

From time to time, training sessions are conducted internally, to help staff acquire or improve skills in safety operations, compliance and other professional skills. Staff may also be invited or encouraged to attend external courses to improve their professional and operational skills.

Staff are expected to make themselves available for these except in extenuating circumstances.

This is a program for continuous improvement, and may include:

  • Refresher courses on use of in-house software
  • Training on new equipment and processes
  • Use of new forms
  • Ongoing training not only includes in-house training, but also includes attendance or enrolment at external courses.

Attendance at and recognition of internal training and competency gained is recorded on Training Register. Attendance, Qualifications and Certificates of Attainment are recorded on an Employee Record.

The business has a policy of assisting staff who are undertaking studies relevant to their position within the organisation. Staff are expected to make themselves available for all training except in extenuating situations.
